Terms of Service
Effective date: July 30, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Soldra for the Unlit app. The most important part is section 3: Unlit is a self-tracking tool, not medical advice and not a treatment. Please read that section even if you skip the rest.
Plain-English summary
- Unlit tracks a quit. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis and not a treatment, and it does not replace a doctor, a quitline or stop-smoking medication.
- Money saved, cigarettes avoided and time-regained figures are arithmetic from the numbers you enter and from population averages. They are estimates, not measurements of your health.
- Health-timeline content is general information from public health bodies such as the CDC and the NHS.
- Everything is stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes your record and we have no backup to restore.
- A real set of features is free forever. Unlit Pro is an optional subscription or one-time purchase, billed by Apple.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple account. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Unlit mobile app for iOS, its features and purchases, and these public pages. By downloading or using Unlit you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Unlit is provided by Soldra, an independent app studio based in the Republic of Lithuania. "We" and "us" mean Soldra; "you" means the person using the app.
2. App Store terms
You obtain Unlit through the Apple App Store, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies alongside these terms. Where they conflict on a matter Apple's agreement governs, that agreement prevails.
This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Unlit. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
3. What Unlit is and is not
Unlit is a self-tracking tool. It records a quit date, counts time and money, gives you a timer and breathing exercise to use during a craving, and shows general information about what happens to the body after quitting.
Unlit is not:
- Not medical advice. Nothing in the app is advice about your individual health, and nothing in it is personalised to your medical circumstances.
- Not a diagnosis and not an assessment of your health, your risk, or your dependence, whatever any score or timeline in the app may appear to suggest.
- Not a smoking cessation treatment and not a medical device.
- Not a substitute for a doctor, a pharmacist, a stop-smoking service or quitline, nicotine replacement therapy, or prescription cessation medication such as varenicline or bupropion.
- Not an emergency service. If you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.
Talk to a clinician before relying on Unlit as part of a quit attempt if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking any prescription medication, or are using or considering nicotine replacement therapy or cessation medication. Stopping smoking can change how your body handles some medications, and that is a conversation for a professional, not an app.
Health-timeline content in Unlit is general information drawn from public health bodies, principally the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and NHS Better Health, and each marker names its source in the app. It describes what research has found across populations. It does not describe what is happening inside your body, which nobody can know from an app.
4. Estimates and figures
Every number Unlit shows is arithmetic, not measurement.
- Cigarettes avoided and money saved are calculated from the cigarettes per day, pack price and pack size you entered. If those inputs are approximate — and for most people they are — the totals are approximate in the same proportion. They assume you would otherwise have kept smoking at the rate you reported.
- Time or life regained, where shown, is derived from published population-level averages. It is a statistical average across a large group, not a prediction about you, and it should not be read as a statement that any specific amount of time has been added to your life.
- Health markers unlock on elapsed time since your quit date. They indicate what published guidance associates with that period on average. They are not readings, tests or measurements of your body, and unlocking one is not evidence that the change has occurred in you.
- Trigger insights are simple patterns found in the logs you entered yourself. They are only as accurate as your logging, and correlation in a small personal dataset is not causation.
Do not use any figure in Unlit as the basis for a medical, financial, insurance or legal decision.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with security, licensing or purchase-verification features;
- use the app in any way that breaks applicable law, or resell, sublicense or redistribute it;
- use the app on behalf of another person as a substitute for that person receiving professional care.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Unlit on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. We keep all rights not expressly granted.
6. Your content
The reasons you write, the photos you attach, your journal entries and your logs are yours. They stay on your device; we never receive them and claim no rights over them. You are responsible for what you choose to write and attach, and for having the right to use any photo you add.
7. Local storage and data loss
Unlit stores everything on your device and has no cloud backup. This is a deliberate privacy decision, and it has a real consequence you should understand before you rely on the app:
- Deleting the app deletes your quit record, including your streak, logs and journal.
- If your device is lost, damaged, wiped or replaced, your record is gone unless it was captured in a device backup you control.
- We cannot recover it. We hold no copy, and there is no account to restore from.
Unlit Pro includes an export feature. If your history matters to you, export it periodically and keep the file somewhere safe. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost app data.
8. Free tier and subscriptions
Unlit is free to download. The following remain free permanently, with no trial and no time limit: your smoke-free streak, money saved, cigarettes avoided, your quit date, three craving SOS sessions per week, the first five health markers, and your milestone badges.
Unlit Pro unlocks unlimited craving SOS sessions, the full health timeline, trigger insights, the journal, widgets and Live Activity, data export, and taper mode. It is offered as a weekly subscription, a yearly subscription that begins with a three-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm, and are set by us in Apple's pricing tiers. Reference prices at the time of writing are US$4.99 weekly, US$39.99 yearly and US$79.99 lifetime; the price you actually pay is the one displayed to you at purchase, which varies by country, tax and currency, and may change.
Subscription terms, as required by Apple:
- Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price then in effect for your plan.
- You can manage a subscription and turn off auto-renew in your Apple account settings after purchase.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription covering the same content.
- Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through your Apple account.
- Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy; we cannot issue them. Requests go through Apple's "Report a Problem" process.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment for the current Unlit app for as long as it is available and functioning on your device. It is not a promise that the app will be maintained, sold or supported indefinitely.
Restoring purchases on a new device uses the same Apple account that made the original purchase.
9. Availability and changes
We may add, change or remove features, and may stop distributing or supporting Unlit. Features that depend on Apple services or on our purchase provider may be interrupted for reasons outside our control. Where we withdraw a paid feature you have an active subscription to, your remedy is through Apple under section 8.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unlit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of inaccuracies, that its calculations or content will suit your circumstances, or — and this matters — that using it will result in you quitting smoking or in any particular health outcome.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of Unlit — including any decision you make in reliance on a figure, timeline or insight shown in the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Unlit will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty euros (€20).
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable expenses arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these terms, or your violation of law or of another person's rights.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Lithuania have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts. Consumers in the European Union may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
14. Severability
If a provision of these terms is held unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions stay in full force.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change, and for material changes we will say so on this page. Continuing to use Unlit after an update means you accept the revised terms. The current version is always at soldra.lt/unlit/terms/.
