Terms of Service
Effective date: July 24, 2026
These terms explain the rules for using Velo, including RSVP speed reading, importing your own content, your local library and progress, Velo Unlimited purchases, and support.
Plain-English summary
- Velo is a reading tool that flashes your text one word at a time so you can read faster.
- Reading speeds and comprehension vary by person, text, and practice, so Velo makes no guarantee of a specific result.
- You bring your own content and are responsible for having the right to import and read it.
- Your documents and progress are stored on your device; Velo has no cloud account to recover deleted data.
- Velo Unlimited purchases are handled through Apple, subscriptions auto-renew, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of Velo, including the iOS app, its speed reading and import features, your local library and progress, Velo Unlimited purchases, support pages, and related services.
By downloading, accessing, purchasing, subscribing to, or using Velo, you agree to these Terms and to the Velo Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Velo.
2. App Store Terms
Velo is distributed through the Apple App Store for iPhone. Apps obtained through the App Store are licensed, not sold, and your use may also be subject to the applicable Apple Media Services terms, platform terms, billing terms, and licensed application terms.
Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for Velo unless its own terms require otherwise. Support requests should be sent to [email protected]. To the extent required by App Store terms, Apple and its subsidiaries may be third-party beneficiaries of the relevant store-related provisions.
3. What Velo Does
Velo is a Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) speed reader for iPhone. Depending on the version, Velo can help you:
- Read text one word at a time with the Optimal Recognition Point letter pinned in place, from 100 to 1000 words per minute.
- Use smart pauses at punctuation, long words, and numbers, an optional haptic rhythm, and a countdown with ghost replay on resume.
- Import pasted text, PDFs, EPUBs, web articles (extracted on-device), and camera scans processed with on-device OCR.
- Read and search the full document in Content Explorer, resume precisely, and track words read, time saved, streak, and personal-best WPM.
- Choose themes (Paper, Warm, Dark, OLED Black) and serif or sans fonts, and store your library and settings locally on your device.
4. Your Content
"Your Content" means content you bring to Velo, including pasted text, PDFs, EPUBs, imported web articles, scanned pages, and any related information you choose to add.
You keep ownership of Your Content. Velo processes and stores Your Content on your device to provide the reading features you use. You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights and permissions needed to import and read it, including respecting the terms of any website or publication you import from.
You represent that you have the right to import and read the pasted text, PDFs, EPUBs, web articles, and scanned pages you bring into Velo, and that doing so does not infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. Soldra does not claim ownership of Your Content and is not responsible for content you do not have the right to use.
5. Reading Results
Velo is a tool to help you read faster and stay focused. Reading speed, retention, and comprehension depend on the reader, the difficulty of the text, practice, and settings, and they vary from person to person and session to session.
Words-per-minute figures, estimated time saved, and other statistics are approximate and are provided for your own tracking and motivation. Velo does not guarantee any particular reading speed, comprehension level, or outcome.
6. Importing Web Pages
When you import a web article, Velo requests the page directly from the website you specify and extracts its text on your device. You are responsible for the URLs you import and for complying with the terms and copyright of the sites and materials you access. Do not use Velo to access content you are not authorized to use.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Velo to:
- Violate any law or third-party right, including copyright, when importing or reading content.
- Import or read content you do not have the right to use.
- Bypass free-tier limits, purchase checks, access controls, or platform restrictions.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, attack, overload, disrupt, or misuse Velo or the services it relies on.
8. Local Storage and Backups
Velo stores your documents, reading position, stats, and settings locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining your device, backups, and access to your data. Velo does not provide a cloud account for recovering deleted data.
Deleting a document, deleting the app, device failure, operating system behavior, or interrupted storage operations may permanently remove local Velo data.
9. Velo Unlimited, Subscriptions, and Lifetime Purchase
Velo is free to try, with a free tier that includes limits on the library size, import length, reading speed, themes and fonts, and stats. Velo Unlimited removes those limits. Velo Unlimited is offered through Apple App Store in-app purchase as an auto-renewing subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
Exact product names, prices, subscription periods, renewal terms, included features, taxes, and any offer terms are shown in the App Store purchase sheet before you confirm. Prices may vary by storefront, so the prices shown in the app at the time of purchase control. As currently offered, Velo Unlimited is priced at $2.99 weekly (with a 3-day free trial), $4.99 monthly, or $29.99 yearly, with a one-time Lifetime option at $59.99.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, according to Apple's rules.
- Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account subscription settings.
- Deleting Velo does not automatically cancel a subscription.
- Refunds, billing issues, family sharing, taxes, payment methods, and store disputes are handled by Apple according to its policies.
Lifetime access means access to the eligible Velo Unlimited features of Velo for the lifetime of the Velo app as offered, not to unrelated future apps, separate services, or every future feature.
10. Availability and Changes to Features
Velo features, reading options, limits, and Velo Unlimited offerings may change over time. Some features, such as importing web pages, depend on network connectivity and third-party sites and may be delayed, unavailable, changed, or discontinued.
11. Privacy
Velo privacy practices are described in the Privacy Policy. In short, Velo keeps your documents and reading data on your device, has no account and no analytics, and only uses the network to fetch a web page you explicitly ask it to import.
12. Intellectual Property
Velo, including its app design, software, branding, and public pages, is owned by Soldra or its developer and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not give you ownership of Velo, and they do not transfer any rights in the content you import.
Subject to these Terms and applicable store terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use Velo for personal, non-commercial use.
13. No Warranty
Velo is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that every import, reading session, statistic, purchase state, local storage operation, or app behavior will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or suitable for your specific situation.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Velo and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, opportunities, or value arising from use of or inability to use the app.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
15. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Soldra and its owners, developers, affiliates, service providers, and licensors from and against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to your use of Velo, the content you create or import, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or your reliance on any output of Velo.
16. Changes to These Terms
Velo features, limits, subscriptions, prices, and legal terms may change over time. These Terms may be updated when the app, purchases, legal requirements, or business practices change. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
