Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 11, 2026

Mountain (also called Motivation) is published by Soldra. Core quotes and widgets work offline. This policy explains local storage, optional usage analytics, online AI features, purchases, and your privacy choices. Availability depends on your app version; analytics described here applies to versions that offer the analytics consent choice.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Motivation iOS app, the Motivation WidgetKit extension, related in-app support screens, and the public support pages for the app.

Motivation provides a vertical quote feed, liked and saved quotes, profile personalization, quote category preferences, sharing, and customizable Home Screen widgets. The app is built to work without a backend account and without an internet connection for its core quote and widget features.

2. Short Summary

Accounts Motivation does not require account creation or login.
Ads and tracking Motivation does not show third-party ads, does not use IDFA, and does not track you across apps or websites for advertising.
Local app data Display name, selected categories, quote like and favorite state, widget settings, onboarding status, notification preference, and app settings are stored locally.
Widgets Favorite quotes and widget preferences are shared locally with the widget extension through the App Group group.com.motivationinc.
Payments Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat helps validate purchases, restore purchases, and manage premium access entitlements.

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Motivation stores app data locally using iOS storage, including UserDefaults. This can include:

  • Your display name and profile initials.
  • Your selected motivation category and daily focus preference.
  • Quote like and favorite states.
  • Widget category, widget style, widget text size, widget mode, and hourly refresh preference.
  • Onboarding status, notification preference, and general app settings.
  • The latest selected quote or action cue used to support the app and widget experience.

If you uninstall the app, iOS normally removes the app's local data. Device backups controlled by Apple or your device settings may include local app data.

4. Widget Data Sharing

Motivation uses an Apple App Group so the main app and widget extension can read the same local widget settings and favorite quote information. This allows the widget to show quotes from your selected category or favorites and apply your selected widget style.

App Group data stays on your device unless your device settings or Apple services back it up. Motivation does not operate a server for syncing your quote library.

5. Purchases and RevenueCat

Motivation may offer premium access through Apple in-app purchase, including monthly, yearly, or lifetime options. Apple processes the payment transaction. RevenueCat is used to validate purchases, manage entitlements, restore purchases, and help the app know whether premium access is active.

RevenueCat may process an app-specific anonymous user identifier, purchase status, product identifiers, subscription status, renewal status, and related technical purchase information. Motivation does not receive your full payment card details.

AI Coaching and Personal Audio

AI features require an internet connection and a separate in-app sharing choice. When you send a coaching message or request a personal audio session, the app sends your message or situation, relevant recent conversation, optional display name, focus, and motivation profile (such as goals, blockers, gender, voice preference, and details you entered) through our Cloudflare service to Google Gemini to generate a response or script. For spoken sessions, the generated script is sent to ElevenLabs to create synthetic speech. The app does not record or upload your microphone audio for these features.

These providers process the content to deliver the requested feature. App-specific identifiers and purchase-entitlement information may also be processed to check access, rate-limit requests, and protect the service. Your personal AI content is not included in PostHog analytics. Avoid submitting sensitive information that is unnecessary for the response you want.

Conversations and completed recordings are saved locally. Our service temporarily stores audio-generation jobs, scripts, and generated audio so the app can retrieve them. Successful downloads request server cleanup; temporary download access expires, with cleanup intended around 24 hours and job metadata around 26 hours. Deleting a local conversation or recording does not automatically delete any independently retained provider records. Provider security logs, abuse-prevention records, backups, and retention follow their service terms and may last longer. We do not promise zero retention or that provider model-training use is disabled unless supported by the applicable account settings and terms.

Provider information: Cloudflare privacy policy, Google Gemini API terms, and ElevenLabs privacy policy. AI replies are not professional advice.

Optional Product Analytics

If you choose Allow analytics, Mountain uses PostHog to understand app usage and improve features and reliability. Events include onboarding steps, screens visited, quote-save and share actions, purchase attempts and outcomes, notification choices, widget-editor changes, and whether check-ins, coaching requests, and audio generation or playback succeed.

Events include an app-specific random installation identifier, app version, operating system, device context, and limited event properties. Purchase events contain product identifiers and outcomes, not payment-card information. These records are pseudonymous: the installation identifier can link events from the same installation even though we do not send your name to PostHog.

Analytics excludes your name, personal questionnaire answers, selected motivations or blockers, chat messages, prompts, transcripts, audio files, and quote text. We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party ads, session replay, or cross-company advertising tracking. We disable IP-based location enrichment; network infrastructure still processes source IP addresses to deliver requests.

PostHog processes these events in our US-hosted project. Analytics records are retained for up to one year under the current plan. Collection is optional and based on your consent. Declining does not prevent use of the app. Turn off Share usage analytics in Profile to stop future analytics collection; this does not automatically erase events already received. For access or deletion requests, contact [email protected]. We may need installation-related information to locate pseudonymous records. Do not send your private conversations or recordings to identify analytics records.

See PostHog's privacy policy. Analytics consent is separate from the choice to use online AI features.

Service Providers and International Processing

Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, Google, ElevenLabs, and PostHog process the data needed for the services described here. Depending on the provider, data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Applicable provider agreements describe international-transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data. Public Soldra support pages also use Vercel web analytics and performance measurement, which are separate from the app's optional PostHog analytics.

6. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Motivation may schedule local notifications on your device. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings. Motivation does not require notifications to use the app.

7. Sharing Quotes

When you tap Share, iOS opens the native share sheet. The app passes the selected quote or share card to iOS, and the destination you choose controls how that content is sent and processed.

8. Your Choices and Data Deletion

  • You can decline analytics or turn off Share usage analytics in Profile at any time.
  • You can decline the AI disclosure and continue using the app’s non-AI features. Stop sending AI requests to stop future AI content submissions.
  • You can clear conversations and delete saved recordings inside the app.
  • You can reset favorites inside the app.
  • You can edit your display name, category preference, and widget settings inside the app.
  • You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
  • You can remove local app data by deleting the app from your device.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account subscription settings.

9. Data Retention

  • Records you create in Motivation stay on your device until you delete them in the app or delete the app; device backups you control may retain copies.
  • Optional analytics events are retained for up to one year. AI processing and temporary server storage are described above; local deletion is separate from provider retention.
  • Support emails and their attachments are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward for our records.
  • Subscription status handled by Apple and RevenueCat is retained under their policies for as long as needed to manage your entitlement.

10. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, and EEA)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar laws, you have rights over your personal data. Because Motivation is local-first, most of your data stays on your device and is not held by Soldra, so many of these rights are exercised directly on your device by viewing, editing, exporting, or deleting your data in the app or by deleting the app.

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Delete your personal data ("right to erasure").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data.
  • Receive your data in a portable format where technically feasible.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Where Soldra processes limited personal data (for example, support emails or subscription status), our legal bases are: your consent (such as optional analytics and AI data sharing); performance of a contract (providing the app and any subscription you buy); our legitimate interests (operating, securing, and supporting the app); and compliance with legal obligations. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. Motivation does not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and has not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected and how it is used.
  • Request access to or deletion of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share).
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Because Motivation keeps your records on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For other requests, contact [email protected].

12. Children

Motivation is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when the app, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
