Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service govern your use of ScaleLens AI, including the iOS app, Android app, AI analysis features, scan history, Pro purchases, support pages, and related services.

By downloading, accessing, purchasing, subscribing to, or using ScaleLens, you agree to these Terms and to the ScaleLens Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use ScaleLens.

2. App Store and Google Play Terms

ScaleLens may be distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apps obtained through those stores are licensed, not sold, and your use may also be subject to the applicable store terms, platform terms, billing terms, and licensed application terms.

Apple and Google are not responsible for providing maintenance or support for ScaleLens unless their own terms require otherwise. Support requests should be sent to salamsalamoner@gmail.com. To the extent required by app store terms, Apple, Google, and their subsidiaries may be third-party beneficiaries of the relevant store-related provisions.

3. What ScaleLens Does

ScaleLens is a camera-first visual estimate app. Depending on the version and platform, ScaleLens can help:

• Estimate object weight.
• Estimate object dimensions.
• Estimate container capacity or visible volume.
• Count visible similar items.
• Estimate visible cash totals.
• Estimate resale or market value from visible clues.
• Identify likely bug species or categories.
• Identify likely plant species or categories.
• Store scan history, result details, warnings, thumbnails, unit settings, consent status, and counters locally on your device.

4. Eligibility

ScaleLens AI features are intended for users who are at least 13 years old and old enough in their region to understand that photos are being sent for automated analysis. If you use ScaleLens on behalf of another person or organization, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

5. Your Content

"Your Content" means content you provide to ScaleLens, including photos, camera captures, scan mode selections, reference hints, locale and unit choices, support messages, and any related information you choose to submit.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You give ScaleLens a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to process, transmit, transform, display, and store Your Content only as needed to provide, maintain, protect, and support ScaleLens and the features you choose to use. This includes sending relevant content to Cloudflare, Google Gemini, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, and other providers described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for Your Content. Do not submit content unless you have the rights and permissions needed to use it with ScaleLens and its service providers.

6. AI Estimates and Generated Output

ScaleLens uses Google Gemini API through the ScaleLens backend to analyze selected images and generate structured results. AI output can include estimates, titles, primary values, units, confidence scores, summaries, details, warnings, likely species or item identity, resale value ranges, and other structured fields.

AI output is generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, outdated, offensive, unsafe, or unsuitable for your circumstances. You must independently review all results, confidence scores, assumptions, details, and warnings before relying on them.

ScaleLens does not guarantee that generated output is unique. Similar or identical output may be generated for other users or other scans.

7. Critical-Use and Professional Advice Disclaimer

ScaleLens is not a calibrated measurement instrument and is not a substitute for professional judgment, certified equipment, laboratory analysis, official appraisal, emergency support, or qualified expert advice.

Do not use ScaleLens for:

• Medical, health, dosing, nutrition, poison, allergy, or emergency decisions.
• Legal, regulatory, compliance, workplace safety, construction, engineering, or insurance decisions.
• Financial, tax, official appraisal, resale guarantee, or high-value transaction decisions.
• Plant toxicity, edible plant, mushroom, pest-control, venomous insect, animal bite, or environmental hazard decisions.
• Any situation where an inaccurate weight, size, volume, count, cash total, identity, or value estimate could cause harm, loss, or legal consequences.

For important decisions, use certified tools, official sources, labels, receipts, professional appraisers, qualified specialists, or other appropriate verification methods.

8. Scan Quality and User Responsibility

ScaleLens results depend on image quality, lighting, perspective, occlusion, reflections, visible reference objects, subject condition, local market context, and the selected scan mode. You are responsible for checking whether the image and selected mode are appropriate.

• Use a clear image with the full subject visible when possible.
• Use a common reference object in the same plane when estimating physical scale.
• Do not treat confidence as a guarantee of correctness.
• Do not rely on plant or bug identification without expert confirmation where safety matters.
• Do not rely on cash totals where bills, coins, currency, or denominations are obscured or ambiguous.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ScaleLens to:

• Violate any law or third-party right.
• Upload images or content you do not have the right to use.
• Submit highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, government ID, password, API key, confidential, or safety-critical information.
• Bypass safety guidance, rate limits, free-scan limits, purchase checks, access controls, or provider restrictions.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, attack, overload, disrupt, or misuse ScaleLens, its backend, or its providers.
• Use generated output to mislead others about exact measurements, identity, value, safety, toxicity, legality, or professional verification.
• Use ScaleLens in any clinical, emergency, regulated, safety-critical, professional inspection, official appraisal, or legal setting.

10. Local Storage and Backups

ScaleLens stores scan history and settings locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining your device, backups, and access to your data. ScaleLens does not provide a cloud account for recovering deleted scan history, thumbnails, settings, or counters.

Deleting history, deleting the app, device failure, operating system behavior, or interrupted storage operations may permanently remove local ScaleLens data.

11. Pro Access, Subscriptions, and Lifetime Purchases

ScaleLens may offer Pro access through Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchase. Pro access is currently associated with the RevenueCat entitlement ID scalelens_pro and may use product identifiers such as monthly, yearly, and lifetime, depending on app version, platform, and store configuration.

Exact product names, prices, subscription periods, trial or offer terms, renewal terms, included features, taxes, and platform-specific conditions are shown in the app store purchase sheet before you confirm a purchase.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled according to the applicable store rules before the end of the current period.
• Your account may be charged for renewal before the end of the current period according to Apple or Google rules.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings.
• Deleting ScaleLens does not automatically cancel a subscription.
• Refunds, billing issues, family sharing, taxes, payment methods, and store disputes are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies.
• RevenueCat is used to validate purchases, restore purchases, and determine whether Pro access is active.

Lifetime access means access to the eligible Pro features of ScaleLens for the lifetime of the ScaleLens app as offered, not to unrelated future apps, separate services, or every future feature.

12. Free Scan Limits and Availability

ScaleLens may limit free AI scans. The current app logic may allow a limited number of free scans per day and show Pro access after those scans are used. Limits, available modes, model configuration, analysis quality, response times, and Pro features may change over time.

AI features depend on network connectivity and third-party services, including Cloudflare, Google Gemini, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. Features may be delayed, unavailable, rate-limited, changed, or discontinued.

13. Privacy

ScaleLens privacy practices are described in the Privacy Policy. By using AI scan features, you acknowledge that selected images and scan request information are sent to ScaleLens backend services and Google Gemini for automated analysis.

14. Intellectual Property

ScaleLens, including its app design, software, branding, prompts, workflows, and public pages, is owned by ScaleLens or its developer and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not give you ownership of ScaleLens.

Subject to these Terms and applicable store terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use ScaleLens for personal, non-commercial use.

15. No Warranty

ScaleLens is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that every scan, estimate, generated result, confidence score, warning, purchase state, local storage operation, or app behavior will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or suitable for your specific situation.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScaleLens and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, opportunities, property, or value arising from use of or inability to use the app.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

17. Changes to ScaleLens or These Terms

ScaleLens features, scan modes, limits, providers, models, subscriptions, prices, and legal terms may change over time. These Terms may be updated when the app, purchases, legal requirements, or business practices change. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
